InfraRecorder Alternatives

InfraRecorder is a free, open-source CD/DVD burner we still recommend for the jobs it genuinely does — but its final release, version 0.53, came out on 1 September 2012 and the program is unmaintained. It has never burned Blu-ray, it does not author video DVDs with menus, and it is not officially supported on Windows 10 or 11. This hub is the honest map of what to use instead, ranked by use case — free tools first wherever free tools do the job.

When you do not need an alternative

For a data CD or DVD, an audio CD, an ISO or BIN/CUE burn, a disc copy or a rewritable erase — on a machine where it runs well — InfraRecorder still does the job free. Get the genuine, hash-verified 0.53 files from our download page, and verify important burns by reading the disc back. Alternatives are for the jobs listed in the table above, not for replacing a tool that already works.
