What is the latest version of InfraRecorder?

Version 0.53, released on 1 September 2012, is the latest and final version. No newer version exists.

Is InfraRecorder free?

Yes. InfraRecorder is free software released under GPL version 3 (GPL v3). You can download and use it at no cost.

Which Windows versions does InfraRecorder support?

Officially, Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7. Those are the systems listed for version 0.53. Windows 8, 10 and 11 were never added to the official list.

Does InfraRecorder work on Windows 11?

It is not officially supported on Windows 11, but many users install and run it successfully. SourceForge discussions in 2025 report some burns on Windows 10 and 11 that produced blank or unreadable discs and inconsistent verification, so verify every burn and read the finished disc back before trusting it.

Does InfraRecorder burn Blu-ray discs?

No. InfraRecorder has never burned Blu-ray or HD-DVD discs. Version 0.50 only added the ability to display a drive’s Blu-ray and HD-DVD capabilities in the device information panel.

Is there a Mac, Linux or Android version of InfraRecorder?

No. InfraRecorder is Windows-only. There is no official macOS, Linux or Android version.

Is there a portable version of InfraRecorder?

Yes. Portable ZIP builds are available for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. They run from an extracted folder with no installation, and keep their settings in XML files in the program folder.

How do I rip a CD to MP3 with InfraRecorder?

You need the separate MP3 plug-in. Download the plug-in, copy the lame.irc file for your build (win32 or x64) into the codecs folder, restart InfraRecorder, and MP3 appears as a save format for audio tracks. Without the plug-in, the base program can save tracks as WAV, WMA, OGG and ISO.

Is InfraRecorder safe to download?

The official files distributed via SourceForge have been downloaded and hash-verified for this site, and no evidence was found that the official installer bundles OpenCandy or other adware. Always check the file size and hash against the values on the download page, and avoid repackaged copies from other sites.

Is InfraRecorder still updated?

No. The final release is 0.53 from 1 September 2012, and the project is discontinued in practice. The last commit to the official code repository was a translation merge in 2016.

Where should I download InfraRecorder?

From SourceForge, which hosts the official files, as the primary channel. This site’s download page links to those SourceForge files directly and also offers this site’s own mirror, labelled as a mirror.
